Police in Jalandhar have arrested an shooter of the Bambiha gang following an encounter in the city. The accused, identified as Jodh Singh alias Jodha, sustained a bullet injury to his leg during the exchange of fire and was shifted to a hospital for treatment.

According to Jalandhar Police Commissioner Satinder Singh, the CIA staff had set up a checkpoint after receiving specific intelligence about the suspect. When officers signaled him to stop, he allegedly attempted to flee on a motorcycle. His bike reportedly skidded, after which he opened fire at the police team.

Police retaliated in self-defense, injuring the suspect in the leg before taking him into custody. Authorities said Jodh Singh, a resident of the Shahkot area, was associated with the Lucky Patial gang and was wanted in multiple criminal cases in Mohali and Moga.

The commissioner said the accused was responsible for the firing outside Vardaan Hospital in Jalandhar around two to three months ago. Investigators recovered the helmet and firearm allegedly used in that attack, and CCTV footage has helped confirm his identity.

The attack on Vardaan Hospital took place on February 28, when a masked gunman fired four rounds within seconds at the hospital's entrance gate. No injuries were reported, but the incident created panic among hospital staff. CCTV footage of the attack had surfaced shortly after the incident.

Following the hospital shooting, then Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur suspended ACP Model Town Parminder Singh and Model Town SHO Ravinder Kumar, citing police negligence in handling the security situation. The attack occurred around 9:30 p.m., leaving bullet marks on the hospital gate and sparking concerns over public safety.
