Bathinda Police on Friday launched a massive district-wide enforcement drive under 'Operation Prahar', detaining 141 people during an extensive search operation aimed at cracking down on crime and tracing absconders.
Sharing details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jyoti Yadav Bains said the operation was conducted on the directions of the Punjab Director General of Police (DGP). The primary objective was to apprehend criminals and absconders wanted in various cases based on complaints received by the police.
A total of 58 police teams were deployed across the district with specific targets as part of the coordinated operation.
According to the police, 41 of the detained individuals were found in possession of stolen property, while officers recovered 23 stolen motorcycles during the searches.
The operation also led to the seizure of two illegal firearms, including a .30 bore pistol and a .32 bore pistol.
In a major anti-drug action, police recovered ₹85,000 in suspected drug money and 150 grams of heroin linked to different cases. Several suspected thieves were also apprehended during the operation.
SSP Jyoti Yadav Bains said the operation was still underway and expressed confidence that further recoveries and arrests were likely by the end of the day.
