Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia is facing the possibility of arrest after a case was registered against him for allegedly forcibly getting one of his associates released from the Majitha police station.
In the latest development, an Amritsar district court has directed the rural police to provide a copy of the FIR to Majithia’s lawyers within 24 hours, enabling them to initiate legal proceedings and prepare their defense.
Earlier, the legal team had moved the court after alleging that the SHO of Majitha police station failed to provide a copy of the FIR. The petition was filed by advocates Amanbir Singh Siali, Advocate Bath, and Pradeep Saini in the Amritsar court.
Meanwhile, Ganieve Kaur, MLA and wife of Bikram Majithia, alleged that the government is “creating a drama” by issuing a lookout notice against him. She also stated that Majithia had already surrendered his passport in another case, making any possibility of him travelling abroad unlikely.
