Assam Assembly Election 2026 trends indicate a massive victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is on course to form the government again with a strong majority.

Celebrations erupted at the BJP headquarters as party workers marked the early results.

In Assam, BJP is leading in 99 out of 126 assembly seats, comfortably crossing the majority mark of 84. The Congress-led alliance is ahead in 23 seats, while others are leading in 4 seats. A major setback came for Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi, who is contesting from Jorhat, as he lost by nearly 23,000 votes to BJP’s Hitendra Nath Goswami, who secured 69,439 votes.

In West Bengal, trends from 293 seats show BJP taking a surprising lead in 194 seats, while the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is ahead in 91 seats. Out of the two declared results so far, BJP and TMC have each won one seat.

In Tamil Nadu, actor Vijay’s political debut has made a strong impact as his party has emerged as the single largest formation, leading in 109 seats. Meanwhile, Congress candidates are ahead in 4 seats. Reports also suggest Vijay’s father has extended an invitation to Congress for a possible alliance.

In Kerala, the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) is close to a majority, leading in 98 seats. The Left Democratic Front (LDF) is ahead in 37 seats, while the BJP-led NDA is leading in 2 seats. Others are ahead in 3 constituencies.
