The Punjab Government on Monday launched the flagship ‘Bright Minds Punjab 2026’ programme at the iconic Virasat-e-Khalsa in Sri Anandpur Sahib, Rupnagar district. The initiative began with the recognition of more than 600 meritorious students who scored above 85 percent in their Class 12 board examinations.

Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains and AAP Punjab Affairs In-charge Manish Sisodia attended the event and interacted with students and teachers, discussing ongoing reforms and future plans aimed at strengthening the state's education system.

Addressing the gathering, Bains announced that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be introduced as a subject in all Punjab government schools from Class 6 starting in the new academic session. He said the move is designed to equip students with skills needed for a technology-driven future and to prepare them for emerging opportunities in innovation and employment.

The minister also highlighted Punjab’s strong performance in school education, stating that the state has secured a leading position in the latest NITI Aayog rankings. He emphasized that the government remains committed to improving educational standards through continuous reforms.

In a major step towards transparency, Bains announced that answer sheets of Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) examinations will soon be made available online. The initiative is expected to improve accountability and strengthen trust among students and parents.

Students participating in the programme raised questions on various educational issues and shared suggestions for improvement. Bains said the ‘Bright Minds Punjab 2026’ programme will now be organized across all districts of the state, giving students an opportunity to directly interact with policymakers and contribute ideas for enhancing the education system.

Speaking at the event, Manish Sisodia said that the progress of any state and nation depends on the quality of its education system. He urged students to pursue excellence through hard work, discipline, and innovation, adding that Punjab’s youth have the potential to emerge as leaders in education and technology.
