Fazilka Police have arrested a brother-in-law duo and recovered 2.143 kilograms of heroin from their possession near Kashi Ram Colony as part of the ongoing crackdown against drug trafficking in Punjab.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gagan Ajit Singh said the police are taking a strict stance against narcotics and warned that no one involved in the illegal drug trade would be spared.
According to the SSP, the operation was carried out by the CIA Staff, Fazilka, which arrested the two accused during a targeted anti-drug operation. The suspects have been identified as Swaran Singh, a resident of Basti Kesar Singh, Guruharsahai, and Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Anandpur Mohalla, Fazilka.
Police are now investigating how the accused obtained such a large quantity of heroin. They will be produced before a court to seek police remand, during which investigators will question them to identify the source of the contraband, uncover the supply chain, and determine where the heroin was intended to be delivered. The investigation is ongoing.
