Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday produced former Municipal Corporation Commissioner and IAS officer Ram Kumar Singh along with former Development and Panchayat Department Superintendent Prince Sharma before a Panchkula court, which remanded both accused to 14 days of judicial custody in connection with an alleged bank fraud case.

During the court proceedings, the CBI informed the court that IAS officer Ram Kumar Singh had deleted his chats with the alleged mastermind of the bank fraud before his arrest. The agency said the investigation has reached a crucial stage and several important aspects of the case are still under examination.

According to the CBI, the case was taken over from the Panchkula Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) after obtaining the necessary approvals from the Haryana Government and the Central Government. The agency has registered the case under various provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The investigating agency further informed the court that a final report against 13 accused persons was filed on May 21, 2026. Subsequently, a supplementary report filed on June 12 named Vikram Wadhwa and Rajan Singh as additional accused. However, the probe remains open regarding the role of other departments and several suspected individuals.

The CBI claimed that Ram Kumar Singh’s alleged involvement came to light during its investigation into his tenure as Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation Panchkula and Municipal Council Kalka. Prince Sharma’s role allegedly surfaced during his posting in the Development and Panchayat Department.

The agency stated that both accused were arrested on June 18 and were taken into police custody after obtaining remand from the court. During interrogation, investigators confronted them with various digital and documentary evidence as part of the ongoing probe.
