Haryana CM Nayab Singh said that the socio-economic criteria fixed for government recruitment uphold the spirit of Antyodaya. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to protecting the interests of candidates appointed to Group C and Group D posts in government jobs. The government stands with all these candidates and assured that it will adopt every possible legal remedy to address the socio-economic criteria issue. If necessary, a bill will also be introduced in the Assembly, said Sh. Nayab Singh unequivocally.
The Chief Minister while addressing a press conference held today, said that the Supreme Court's decision has not raised any questions about the CET exam. According to policy, the CET results are valid for three years.
Nayab Singh said that in February 2018, the present state government had formulated a policy to award some additional marks in examinations for government jobs to poor widows, orphans, members of families deprived of government jobs for many decades, youth from denotified tribes, and also to temporary government employees. Due to this policy, thousands of poor youth and temporary employees have secured permanent government jobs since then.
He further shared that in 2018, a double bench of the High Court itself had appreciated the provision of 5 marks based on the socio-economic criteria by the Haryana govt.
The Chief Minister said that during congress tenure, nepotism, casteism, and regionalism were rampant in jobs. Jobs were auctioned, and people with money and connections bought jobs while poor families were left out. This led to frustration and despair among the youth. He said that in the previous government, youth looked for ‘Sifarish’, but today they look for libraries to study as the recruitment system now is based solely on merit. This is the difference between Congress and our government, said the Chief Minister.
He shared that a Congress leader is making false accusations, but the reality is that 13.50 lakh youths registered for 13,657 Group D posts. Out of these, 9,50,000 candidates appeared for the CET exam, and 4,20,000 of them qualified. The qualified candidates will be adjusted in the departments where there is a need. So far, 11,000 youths have joined.
The Chief Minister clarified that the Supreme Court's decision today on the socio-economic criteria has had no impact on the CET first-stage exam. To safeguard the recruitment of approximately 12,000 selected candidates for Group-C, the government will submit a review petition in the high court to share the actual situation and will also ensure that the candidates are not required to appear for the examination again.
50,000 new recruitments to be done soon, announces CM
The Chief Minister announced that 50,000 additional jobs will be provided in the next two months. For this, the Haryana Staff Selection Commission will soon start the recruitment process. This will fulfill the dream of many youths to secure government jobs. Furthermore, our government will continue to make recruitments based solely on merit, without any Parchi-Kharchi, said Nayab Singh.
