Administration has begun preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proposed visit to Chandigarh, although no official confirmation has been issued so far. According to sources, the Prime Minister is likely to visit the city on July 17 to inaugurate several major healthcare and infrastructure projects before proceeding to Haryana.
Among the key projects expected to be inaugurated is the 300-bed Advanced Eye and Trauma Centre at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), which has been completed at a cost of approximately ₹495 crore. The state-of-the-art facility includes clinical laboratories, an ENT department, a cafeteria, a mini dental unit, faculty rooms, and other modern amenities.
Prime Minister is also expected to dedicate the 300-bed Mother and Child Block at PGIMER, developed at an estimated cost of ₹485 crore. The new facility is aimed at strengthening maternal and child healthcare services in the region.
In addition, PM Modi is likely to inaugurate the redeveloped Chandigarh Railway Station project, built at a cost of around ₹117 crore. The upgraded station features modern passenger amenities, including a City Centre Capsule and other enhanced facilities.
While preparations are underway, officials are awaiting formal confirmation of the Prime Minister's itinerary.
