The Chandigarh Administration has temporarily reassigned several key departments after Home Secretary Mandip Singh Brar (IAS) proceeded on leave from June 13 to June 28, 2026.
Under orders issued by Chief Secretary H. Rajesh Prasad, additional charge of important portfolios has been given to three senior IAS officers to ensure uninterrupted governance.
Diprava Lakra will oversee Home, Police, Jails, Urban Development, Environment and Local Government departments, while Swapnil M. Naik has been assigned Revenue, Law & Justice, Protocol and Water Resources. Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah will handle Health and Medical Education.
The arrangement will remain in effect until June 28, after which the departments will revert to the Home Secretary upon his return.
