In a swift breakthrough, Chandigarh Police solved a theft case reported at a supermarket in Sector-38 within just 18 hours and arrested the accused involved in the crime.
The accused has been identified as Jitender Sharma, a resident of Nayagaon in Mohali district. Police recovered stolen cash and original documents from his possession during the operation.
The arrest was made under the supervision of DSP Dheeraj Kumar by a police team led by Inspector Rajeev Kumar, SHO of Police Station Sector-39.
According to police officials, complainant Shubham Mittal, a resident of Sector-9 Panchkula, stated that he runs a supermarket named New Annapurna Store in Sector-38C. He had closed the shop and left for home around 10:30 PM on May 26.
Police said the accused allegedly broke the lock of the supermarket and carried out the theft during the night. Following the complaint, the police launched an investigation and managed to trace and arrest the accused within hours.
