Punjab Newsline | Chandigarh
Despite November being underway, Chandigarh continues to experience unusually warm weather, with daytime temperatures remaining above 30°C. While mornings and nights have become relatively cooler, strong afternoon sunshine is delaying the arrival of winter.
On Thursday, the city recorded a maximum temperature of around 31°C and a minimum of 15°C. On November 5 last year, the maximum temperature was around 27°C, making this year's daytime temperature nearly 5°C higher.
The continued warmth is largely attributed to dry weather, prolonged sunshine and the absence of strong Western Disturbances, which generally bring rain and help lower temperatures across north India. El Niño conditions may also be influencing broader weather patterns.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast above-normal maximum temperatures across most parts of the country in November. Climate change and rising average temperatures are additional factors contributing to increasingly unpredictable seasonal patterns.
With little rainfall expected in the immediate forecast period, Chandigarh residents may continue to experience warm afternoons alongside cooler mornings and nights.
