Traffic movement across Chandigarh is likely to remain disrupted on Monday (July 13) as farmers under the banner of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Rajewal) stage a bike rally and protest in the city.

The rally will begin from Mohali and proceed to the Exhibition Ground in Sector 34, where farmers will submit two memorandums addressed to the Prime Minister through the Punjab Chief Minister and the Governor.

The protest is being held over several issues, including the proposed India-U.S. trade agreement, water management, and land policy. In view of the demonstration, Chandigarh Police has issued a traffic advisory and will implement diversions on several major roads between 10:30 AM and 3:00 PM.

Key Routes Affected

Traffic diversions and partial restrictions will be in place on the following stretches:

  • From Sector 51/52 Light Point to ISBT Sector 43 Chowk.

  • Along Himalaya Marg, from Sector 34/35–43/44 Chowk (South End Chowk) to Sector 21/22–34/35 Chowk (Piccadilly Chowk), including Aroma Light Point.

  • On Dakshin Marg, from Piccadilly Chowk to Sector 20/21–33/34 Chowk, including Kisan Bhawan Chowk and Gurdwara Chowk.

  • Along Sarovar Path, from Sector 20/21–33/34 Chowk to Sector 33/34–44/45 Chowk, Gaushala Chowk, and further up to the Mohali Barrier.

  • Partial restrictions are also expected near Sector 20/21 Light Point and Sector 45/46–49/50 Chowk.

Authorities have advised commuters to plan their journeys in advance, use alternate routes wherever possible, and check the latest traffic updates before leaving home.
