Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema has directed all state government departments to complete formalities and forward eligible cases to the Personnel Department for transitioning outsourced employees to direct contractual engagement within a time-bound framework.

Chairing meetings with 10 employee unions and united fronts, Cheema said the move would ensure smooth implementation of the Punjab State Outsourced Personnel (Transition to Contractual Engagement) Act, 2026. He stressed that administrative delays must not obstruct the transition of eligible employees.

During meetings with transport employees, he directed officials to expedite the resolution of pending demands. He also assured the CPF Karamchari Union that the government was working towards an early resolution of its issues.

Addressing the National Federation of the Blind, Cheema said recruitment to 28 vacant Group D posts reserved for visually impaired candidates was underway. He assured that backlog vacancies in other categories would also be filled during upcoming recruitment drives.

The Finance Minister also assured education department unions that most of their key demands were being processed for approval. Responding to the Gram Panchayat Jal Supply Pump Operators Association’s demand for minimum daily wages, he directed the concerned department to prepare a formal proposal without delay.
