Punjab Finance and Planning Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Friday directed officials to ensure regular monitoring, timely completion and high-quality execution of development works under the Rangla Punjab Vikas Scheme, while chairing a high-level review meeting at MAGSIPA.
Reviewing the progress of the first two phases of the scheme alongside Chief Secretary KAP Sinha and Additional Chief Secretary Jaspreet Talwar, Cheema instructed Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to complete all Phase 1 projects by July 31 and Phase 2 projects by August 31. He also asked district administrations to prepare a list of Phase 3 projects that can begin by August 15.
Emphasising accountability, Chief Secretary KAP Sinha directed DCs to upload geo-tagged photographs of completed projects from the field to verify quality and workmanship. He warned that officials responsible for delays or poor-quality construction would face strict administrative action. Additional Deputy Commissioners (Development) were also asked to closely supervise the scheme's implementation.
Additional Chief Secretary Jaspreet Talwar instructed DCs to assign constituency-wise monitoring responsibilities to Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), who will conduct regular field inspections to assess project progress and quality.
During the meeting, Deputy Commissioners from across Punjab presented updates on ongoing works, shared district-level implementation strategies and suggested measures to improve execution and speed up infrastructure development under the flagship scheme.
