A shocking incident has been reported from a government school in Sector 20, Panchkula, where a Class 3 student allegedly brutally assaulted a six-year-old girl studying in nursery with a brick inside a classroom. The accused student reportedly struck the girl repeatedly on her head and face, leaving her critically injured and unconscious.

The girl is currently undergoing treatment at the PGI Chandigarh, where doctors are treating her for serious head injuries. She was initially taken to a private hospital in Sector 6, Panchkula, from where she was referred to PGI.

According to information, the incident took place on the evening of October 28, when evening classes were underway at the school. Due to a shortage of teachers, students from different classes were reportedly seated in the same classroom. The two children allegedly got into an argument, following which the older student attacked the girl.

The classroom was reportedly empty at the time of the incident, and the school authorities allegedly remained unaware of the assault until the dispersal time. The incident came to light when an auto-rickshaw driver arrived to pick up the girl but could not find her. He then contacted her father, who rushed to the school.

When the father questioned the accused student, the boy reportedly told him that his daughter was lying injured inside the classroom. The father immediately rushed the girl to a private hospital in Sector 6, Panchkula. Given the seriousness of her condition, doctors referred her to PGI Chandigarh.

Meanwhile, CCTV footage of the incident has gone viral on social media. The footage reportedly shows the student slapping the girl, kicking her and banging her head against a bench. He is also seen allegedly throwing her to the floor, kicking her in the face and later bringing a brick to attack her.

According to sources, the boy struck the girl at least 12 times with the brick on her head and face. Even after she fell unconscious, he allegedly continued assaulting her.

The incident has also raised serious questions about the functioning of the school administration, as the assault reportedly went unnoticed during school hours. The school management and police have also faced questions over the alleged delay in bringing the matter to light.

Police, however, maintained that they had been investigating the case for two days. Sector 20 police station SHO Yashdeep has sought details of the CCTV footage from the school management.

The accused student is reportedly between nine and 10 years old, while the injured girl is six. She remains under treatment in the emergency department of the trauma centre at PGI Chandigarh.
