After paying obeisance at Takht Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Punjab has shown the entire country the path to protecting the honour of the Gurus by enacting the strictest law against beadbi.
The Chief Minister offered prayers for the prosperity, well-being and Chardi Kala of Punjab, Punjabis and the entire Sikh Sangat. Expressing gratitude to Guru Sahib, he said Punjab was blessed with the opportunity to enact a stringent law to uphold the sanctity and dignity of the holy Shabad Guru, which holds deep significance for millions of devotees.
Calling beadbi an unforgivable offence against the faith of countless people, the Chief Minister appealed to all state governments across the country to introduce similarly strict laws. He asserted that Punjab is ready to extend all possible support in this regard.
Making the government’s stance clear, he said that anyone who dares to commit beadbi of Sri Guru Granth Sahib in Punjab will now have to spend their entire life in jail, sending a strong message that any act hurting religious sentiments will not be tolerated.
The Chief Minister further stated that the teachings of Guru Sahib continue to guide humanity towards truth, compassion and universal brotherhood. He expressed hope that communal harmony, peace and unity would grow stronger with each passing day, and that Punjab would continue to lead the nation in every sphere.
He added that the visit to the sacred shrine has filled him with renewed energy and inspiration to serve the people of Punjab with greater dedication and commitment. Reiterating the government’s resolve, the Chief Minister said that preserving the sanctity of Sri Guru Granth Sahib remains a top priority, and strict punishment will be ensured for anyone attempting to hurt the religious sentiments of the people.
