Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday addressed Punjabis across the world, asserting that his lifelong public service is dedicated to safeguarding Punjab’s interests and that no political propaganda can weaken his connection with the people of the state.
He strongly rejected allegations linked to a controversial video, stating that two independent forensic reports have completely disproved any connection with him. According to the Chief Minister, a detailed frame-by-frame analysis of 1,191 frames showed that not a single frame matched his facial features, physique, or appearance. He added that the reports also indicate the person in the video is approximately two inches taller than him.
Calling the episode a “calculated attempt” to defame him, Mann said certain forces are uncomfortable with Punjab’s progress and the growing public support for his government. He announced that he has directed the Director General of Police (DGP), Punjab, to identify all individuals involved in creating, funding, and circulating the alleged fake video, regardless of their location, and ensure legal action against them.
Referring to his public life, the Chief Minister said he has always tried to honour Sikh history and institutions, including paying tribute to the Chhote Sahibzadas in Parliament for the first time and promoting respect for religious sentiments in governance decisions.
He also highlighted key policy decisions, including tax exemption for vehicles used for carrying Palki Sahib and other religious processions, and exemption of specially designed religious scripture vehicles from Motor Vehicle Tax to promote communal harmony.
Mann further mentioned administrative decisions such as declaring Amritsar, Sri Anandpur Sahib, and Talwandi Sabo as holy cities associated with Sri Akal Takht Sahib and other Takhts, holding a special Assembly session at Anandpur Sahib, and strengthening laws against sacrilege through the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act.
He said his government has also expanded welfare initiatives, including free electricity to a majority of households, large-scale youth employment without corruption, Aam Aadmi Clinics, improved infrastructure, and increased canal water usage for irrigation from 22% to over 80%.
Taking a strong political stance, Mann alleged that rival parties are jointly targeting him using religion for political motives, but said he remains unfazed by such campaigns.
Reaffirming his commitment, he stated that every moment of his life is dedicated to Punjab and that he will continue to serve the people without personal or political gain.
