A cyclist was killed after being run over by a sand-laden tractor-trolley on the Garhshankar–Nangal main road in Punjab's Hoshiarpur district on Monday morning.

The fatal accident occurred at around 7 a.m., and CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced, capturing the shocking moments leading to the crash.

The deceased has been identified as Kashmiri Lal, son of Sagli Ram and a resident of Santokh Nagar, Garhshankar.

According to eyewitnesses, Kashmiri Lal was cycling towards the city from Nangal Road when a speeding tractor-trolley carrying sand and gravel allegedly hit him from behind. The impact threw him onto the road, and the tractor's wheel ran over him, causing fatal injuries.

The CCTV footage shows the cyclist riding along the side of the road before the tractor-trolley strikes him from behind. He died at the scene due to the severity of the injuries.

Local residents rushed to help and pulled the victim from beneath the tractor before taking him to the Government Hospital in Garhshankar. However, doctors declared him brought dead.

After being informed, Garhshankar police reached the spot, seized the tractor-trolley, and launched a search for the driver, who fled after the accident. The body has been sent to the Civil Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination, and further investigation is underway.
