Abohar witnessed a major security scare on Friday afternoon after unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire at a car outside DAV College on College Road. The broad daylight shooting sent shockwaves through the busy area, although all occupants of the vehicle escaped unharmed.
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers fired multiple rounds at the car before speeding away from the scene. The sudden gunfire triggered panic among shopkeepers, students, and pedestrians, with several businesses pulling down their shutters while people rushed to safer locations.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Harish Kumar, along with a team from City Police Station No. 2, reached the spot soon after receiving information about the incident. Officers cordoned off the area, inspected the crime scene, and recorded statements from eyewitnesses.
During the preliminary investigation, police recovered three empty bullet cartridges from the spot, which have been sent for forensic examination. CCTV footage from nearby establishments is also being scanned to identify the attackers and trace their escape route.
Police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the suspects and are investigating the motive behind the attack. No injuries were reported in the incident, and further investigation is underway.
