US President Donald Trump celebrated his 80th birthday with a spectacular Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event held on the South Lawn of the White House. Reportedly costing around $60 million (approximately ₹567 crore), the event is being described as one of the most expensive UFC productions ever staged.

The fight card featured seven bouts, with the headline contest seeing interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje take on undisputed champion Ilia Topuria. After an intense four-round battle, American fighter Gaethje defeated Spain’s Topuria, claiming the lightweight championship belt and handing Topuria the first defeat of his professional career.

President Trump, several senior members of his administration, distinguished guests, and thousands of military personnel were present to witness the action-packed event.

In the opening fight, Bo Nickal delivered a dominant first-round knockout victory over Kyle Daukaus, flooring his opponent with a powerful left hook followed by a right-hand punch before the referee stopped the contest. Following his victory, Nickal stepped out of the octagon to greet President Trump, shaking hands and briefly interacting with him.

The event featured 14 fighters in total, and analysts believe the high-profile White House showcase could significantly boost the global image of the UFC brand. Once criticized by sponsors and even described by a US senator as "human cockfighting," the sport has now reached one of the most symbolic venues in American politics.

Founded in 1993 in the United States, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has grown into the world's leading Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) organization. It was originally created to determine which martial arts discipline was most effective in real combat, bringing together practitioners of boxing, wrestling, karate, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and other fighting styles.

The inaugural UFC tournament was won by Royce Gracie, whose Brazilian jiu-jitsu skills allowed him to defeat much larger opponents and revolutionize the sport. Over the years, MMA has evolved dramatically, with modern fighters training in multiple disciplines—including boxing, wrestling, judo, karate, taekwondo, kickboxing, and jiu-jitsu—to compete at the highest level.
