Dr Rajinder Singh Sohal has been unanimously re-elected as President of the Punjab Gatka Association (PGA), while Baljinder Singh Toor has been entrusted once again with the responsibility of General Secretary during the association’s Annual General Body Meeting held at the Punjab Olympic Bhawan in Mohali.
Sharing details, General Secretary Baljinder Singh Toor said the meeting’s main agenda was the election of a new governing body following the completion of the association’s four-year term. The Punjab Gatka Association is a recognised body affiliated with the Punjab State Sports Council, Punjab Olympic Association, and Gatka Federation of India, and works for the promotion and development of Gatka across the state.
The election process was conducted in the presence of Punjab Olympic Association Executive Member Advocate Ankur Gupta and Rajvir Singh from the Gatka Federation of India, who served as observers.
Members unanimously elected Dr Rajinder Singh Sohal as President and reappointed Baljinder Singh Toor as General Secretary. The General Body also authorised the President and General Secretary to nominate the remaining members of the executive committee.
The newly constituted executive committee includes Davinder Singh Jugni and Arshad Dali as Vice Presidents, Raghvir Singh as Secretary, Kuldeep Singh as Finance Secretary, Jagkiran Kaur as Assistant Secretary, and Inderjit Singh Mallhi, Palwinder Singh Kanda, and Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal as Executive Members.
The elections were unanimously endorsed by district presidents and secretaries from across Punjab who attended the meeting.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Rajinder Singh Sohal said the association had achieved significant milestones during the previous term and would continue making greater efforts to promote and expand the sport of Gatka in the coming years.
During the meeting, members also passed a resolution seeking the establishment of a dedicated Gatka Bhawan in Punjab. The association resolved to seek support from Sikh organisations, the Punjab Government, and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for the project.
Members congratulated the newly elected office-bearers and assured them of their full cooperation in strengthening and promoting the traditional Sikh martial art across the state.
Several representatives and office-bearers from different districts of Punjab were present on the occasion, reflecting broad participation and support for the association’s future initiatives.
