Farmers reached Chandigarh on Tuesday to protest against the proposed India-US Free Trade Agreement (FTA) following a call by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM). The protesters began their march from Kisan Bhawan in Sector 35 toward the BJP office.
Police attempted to stop the march by placing barricades along the route, leading to a brief scuffle and pushing between farmers and security personnel. The protesters were prevented from moving further after the confrontation.
The demonstration was organized by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha, with a large number of farmers participating from various districts of Punjab. After being stopped by police, the protesters staged a sit-in at the barricade site and raised slogans against the government, demanding that the proposed trade agreement be withdrawn.
