A major industrial accident occurred at a spanner and wrench manufacturing factory in Ludhiana after a sudden toxic gas leak claimed the lives of three people, including a father and son. Several workers were also rendered unconscious, while many others remain in critical condition.
According to eyewitnesses, routine work was underway at the factory when gas began leaking from a pipeline. Within minutes, the toxic fumes spread throughout the premises, leaving workers with little time to escape. The gas reportedly caused severe breathing difficulties and intense eye irritation, resulting in several workers collapsing inside the factory.
SDM Jasleen Bhullar confirmed that three people lost their lives in the incident. The accident took place around 2 a.m., while police received information about it at approximately 10:30 a.m.
The deceased have been identified as Man Singh, his son Amit, and Shri Ram (56). Man Singh and Amit had reportedly gone to collect soil accumulating beneath a machine when they were exposed to the toxic gas and became trapped in the affected area.
Amit was married and is survived by his wife and a one-year-old daughter. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the gas leak and assess whether safety protocols were followed at the factory.
