FIFA has announced that the winners of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will receive specially designed championship rings in addition to the iconic World Cup trophy and gold medals.
According to FIFA, this marks the first time in the tournament's history that champions will be honoured with rings, a tradition inspired by the long-standing championship culture in American sports.
The historic presentation will take place after the World Cup final between Argentina and Spain at New Jersey Stadium, New York. The title clash is scheduled to kick off at 12:30 AM IST on Sunday.
Defending champions Argentina booked their place in the final with a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over England in the semi-finals. Trailing for much of the match, Argentina equalised through Enzo Fernández before Lautaro Martínez scored the winning goal in stoppage time to seal their place in the final. The defeat also ended England's dream of reaching their first World Cup final since 1966.
Spain, meanwhile, secured their place in the final with a 2-0 victory over France, reaching the World Cup final for the first time since lifting the trophy in 2010. It will be only Spain's second World Cup final, with teenage sensation Lamine Yamal playing a key role in their impressive campaign.
