The Junior Cricket Committee (Selection Committee) of the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) has announced the selection of five players from District Mohali for the Punjab State U-16 Men’s Team for the prestigious Vijay Merchant Trophy 2025–26, scheduled to begin on December 7, 2025, in Gwalior. The team will depart for Gwalior from Mohali on December 4, 2025.
Selected Players from Mohali District are Harjagteshwar Singh Khaira – Wicketkeeper-Batsman, Abhishek Rajput – Leg-Spin All-Rounder, Shivam Mattri – Medium-Pace All-Rounder, Akshat Gagneja – Batsman and Ayaan Srivastava – Medium-Pace All-Rounder.
As per PCA’s travel schedule, the selected players will leave for Gwalior early morning from I.S. Bindra Cricket Stadium, PCA Stadium, Mohali, on December 4, 2025.
Earlier today, District Cricket Association (DCA) Mohali Secretary Manjinder Singh Baidwan, met the selected players, congratulated them on their achievement, and extended his best wishes for the upcoming season. He also expressed gratitude to the PCA for honouring merit and recognising the talented players of District Mohali.
In his congratulatory message, Baidwan said that the selection of five Mohali players in the Punjab U-16 team is a historic moment for the district. He applauded their consistent hard work and outstanding performances in the Under-16 District Selection Matches, PCA camp matches, practice matches with other state teams, and notably the 5th Balram Ji Dass Tandon Tournament, which Punjab won recently.
He further highlighted that earlier this year, DCA Mohali clinched the title in the Under-16 Inter-District PCA Tournament 2025, defeating Ropar in the final of the four-day championship held from April 29 to May 2 at the New PCA Stadium, Mullanpur, New Chandigarh. “The District Cricket Association, Mohali, remains committed to nurturing and supporting young cricketing talent as they continue their journey in the sport,” the Secretary added.
