In a step toward transforming Ambala’s local bus service into a fully air-conditioned electric bus service, five new electric buses (E-buses) will soon be introduced on local routes. This will bring the total number of electric buses operating in Ambala to ten. More electric buses will be added in the near future.
Providing more details, Transport Minister Anil Vij said that with the inclusion of these five new electric buses, a total of ten electric buses will now operate on local routes, and six to seven more are planned to be added soon. He noted that electric buses are both environment-friendly and air-conditioned.
Due to the efforts of Transport Minister Ambala's local bus service has been restarted after nearly 25 years. Earlier, there was a regular bus service between Ambala City and Ambala Cantonment, which was discontinued. However, as soon as Sh. Anil Vij became Transport Minister last year, he took the initiative to resume this service, which is now benefiting residents significantly.It is noteworthy that to promote transportation services in Haryana, the state is introducing 650 new buses, including 150 air-conditioned ones.
The local bus service is currently operating on several routes between Ambala Cantonment and Ambala City, benefiting the general public. These routes include, from Kalrahedi in Ambala Cantonment to Defence Colony, Tundla, Topkhana Parade, Indira Chowk, and from Cantonment Bus Stand to City. From Boh to Babyal, Tangri Dam Road, Mahesh Nagar, Subhash Park, Indira Chowk, and Bus Stand to the City route. From Shahpur and Machhonda to Vidya Nagar, Nanhera, Subhash Park, and Bus Stand toward the City.The local bus service has also been extended to Saha. Thousands of passengers are benefitting from this service daily.
