Former Indian cricketer Manpreet Singh Gony has entered politics by joining the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. International gold medalist Kunar also joined the party along with Gony.

After joining AAP, Gony said he would fulfil any responsibility assigned to him by the party with complete honesty and dedication. He expressed his commitment to working hard for the organisation and serving the people.

Gony is now among the prominent personalities from the cricketing world to join the Aam Aadmi Party. Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh had earlier joined AAP and was subsequently sent to the Rajya Sabha by the party.

Gony is the second former cricketer associated with AAP. However, Harbhajan Singh later joined the BJP along with several other AAP Rajya Sabha MPs.

The induction of Gony and Kunar is being seen as an effort by AAP to bring well-known personalities from the sports field into active politics.
