Fulfilling all legitimate demands of employees in phased manner for taking Punjab Roadways on progress path: Laljit Singh Bhullar

Punjab Transport Minister S. Laljit Singh Bhullar, on Friday, assured employees of Punjab Roadways that their all legitimate demands are under consideration, which will be fulfilled in a time-bound manner.

While presiding over a meeting of the representatives of Punjab Roadways/PUNBUS Employees Joint Action Committee at his office here, the Transport Minister urged them to keep restraint and support the government. He said that the long pending demands of Roadways employees are being fulfilled in a phased manner.

Referring to bringing uniformity in bus time-table, S. Laljit Singh Bhullar said that Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Mann led government is committed to take the state bus service to new heights and private bus operators cannot be allowed to plunder. He directed the officials to clear the discrepancies, if any, in the time-table of buses at the earliest.

Divulging about the merger of debt-free buses of PUNBUS with Punjab Roadways, the Cabinet Minister said that case of merging 587 buses of PUNBUS into Roadways is at the final stage and the process will be completed soon.

He asked the officials of transport department to resolve all the matters related to providing jobs to the family members of the deceased employees as per their merit at the earliest. Similarly, he said that the state government has been continuously working to regularize contractual employees of the department, and will act as per the report of the government sub-committee.

The Cabinet Minister instructed officials to complete the process of promotions in each category within two months and furnish the report in this regard.

Likewise, the Transport Minister also directed the officials to consider the demands such as release of funds for repair of workshops and purchase of spare parts of buses on time.

Secretary Transport Mr. Dilraj Singh Sandhawalia, Director Punjab Roadways Ms. Amandeep Kaur, Deputy Director S. Parneet Singh Minhas and other officials were also present in the meeting.
