A major accident was narrowly avoided late Sunday night at a fair in Begowal area of Kapurthala when a giant swing ride suddenly stopped mid-air due to a technical fault, leaving several people stranded and triggering panic at the venue.
The fair has been organized in connection with the annual death anniversary of Sant Baba Prem Singh Ji. Like every year, several amusement rides and entertainment attractions were installed for children and youngsters attending the event.
According to eyewitnesses, the giant swing ride was operating normally when it suddenly came to a halt high above the ground because of a technical malfunction. People trapped on the ride remained suspended in the air for a long time, while panic spread among their family members and visitors gathered below.
A large crowd soon assembled at the spot as fear and chaos gripped the fairgrounds. Ride operators worked for nearly an hour to fix the technical issue and safely bring all passengers down.
Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.
Following the scare, visitors demanded strict safety inspections of all rides and equipment installed at the fair. Locals urged the administration to ensure proper safety checks to prevent any major mishap in the future.
