Government nods to a new compensation policy

In a significant move towards infrastructure development, ‘Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited’, Energy Department, Government of Haryana has introduced a new compensation policy. This initiative aims to resolve longstanding issues between landowners, particularly farmers and Transmission Utilities. Under the visionary leadership of CM Nayab Singh, the government is committed to expedite the installation of transmission lines to ensure quality power supply across Haryana.
Recognizing the critical need to balance development with fair compensation, the Govt of Haryana has approved the policy in line with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Power, Government of India vide F.No. 3/4/2016-Trans-Part(4) dated 14.06.2024 for compensating Right of Way (RoW) for transmission lines.
Payment of compensation for the tower base area at the rate of 200 percent of the land value without acquisition and compensation for the Right of Way corridor at the rate of 30 percent of the land value for the transmission line corridor in contrast to the previous policy which did not include compensation for the Right of Way corridor and compensation for the tower base area was set at the rate of 100 percent of the land value.
