A government school teacher was brutally murdered in broad daylight in Amritsar on Monday while returning home after dropping his daughter for tuition classes. The attackers allegedly surrounded him on the way and assaulted him with sharp-edged weapons before slitting his throat.
The victim, identified as Jagdeep Singh, a resident of Talwandi village, died on the spot due to excessive bleeding. His body was later found lying face down on the roadside, with pieces of flesh reportedly scattered around the crime scene.
According to preliminary information, Jagdeep Singh had left home around 2 p.m. on his Activa scooter to drop his daughter at a tuition centre. While returning, he was intercepted by unidentified assailants near the Narayangarh drain area.
The attackers allegedly launched a brutal assault using sharp weapons and slit his throat, causing fatal injuries. He succumbed to his wounds at the scene before any medical help could arrive.
Upon receiving information about the incident, police teams rushed to the spot, took possession of the body, and initiated legal proceedings. Investigators have inspected the crime scene and begun examining CCTV footage from nearby locations to identify the culprits.
Police officials said that efforts are underway to establish the motive behind the murder and trace those involved. The case is being investigated from all possible angles.
