Punjab Police have claimed to have foiled a major alleged terror conspiracy by arresting 17 suspects in Moga and recovering an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), explosive materials, electronic detonators, and a 9mm Glock pistol with magazines.
According to the preliminary investigation, the alleged mastermind has been identified as Iqbal Singh alias Ravi Dhaliwal, who is currently based in the United Kingdom (UK) and is accused of directing the operation. Police said the arrested suspects allegedly carried out a grenade attack on the Sadar Police Station in Moga on his instructions.
Investigators also revealed that the accused had allegedly planned to plant an IED on a train travelling from Ferozepur to Jammu in an attempt to trigger a major explosion.
An FIR has been registered at the Moga Sadar Police Station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosive Substances Act, the Explosives Act, and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
Punjab Police said the investigation is ongoing and raids are being conducted to identify and apprehend other members and associates linked to the alleged terror network. The police reiterated their commitment to dismantling terror modules and taking strict action against anti-national activities in the state.
