Punjabi singer and actor Ammy Virk narrowly escaped unharmed after unidentified assailants opened fire on a luxury Rolls-Royce Cullinan carrying him and three others following a show in Abbotsford, Canada.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 11 pm on Saturday near McCallum Road and South Fraser Way shortly after Ammy Virk left the Roger Forum venue where he had performed. The attackers allegedly fired between seven and ten rounds at the vehicle. Investigators found seven bullet impact marks on the Rolls-Royce, with the rear windshield sustaining the most damage.
Despite the intense firing, all four occupants of the vehicle, including Ammy Virk, escaped without injuries. The luxury SUV's heavily reinforced body prevented the bullets from penetrating the cabin, averting a potentially tragic outcome.
Police said another Surrey resident was also travelling in the vehicle. While authorities have not disclosed who the intended target was, citing privacy concerns, they confirmed that the Surrey-based individual had previously survived three separate attempts on his life. Investigators are therefore examining multiple angles and possible motives behind the attack.
Following the shooting, the suspects fled the scene. Police later discovered a burnt SUV approximately five kilometres away near Sunnyside Place. Investigators believe the vehicle may have been used in the attack and was deliberately set on fire to destroy evidence.
Authorities have confirmed both the shooting and the discovery of the burnt vehicle. The investigation is ongoing, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
