HARTRON, designated by the IT policy (6.10.2015), achieved a historic milestone with the first ever e-auction of e-waste in the State of Haryana. Unveiling a game-changing e-waste management initiative, the streamlined electronic auction portal launched in August this year is designed to simplify the entire e-waste disposal process through an automated and seamless mechanism.
Undeniably e-waste has emerged as an impending issue with the proliferation of IT and electronic devices. The pressing issue of e-waste, though acknowledged, demands a more robust and proactive approach.
MD, HARTRON J.Ganesan said that In order to streamline the process for all Government Departments, Boards, Corporations, Universities, Institutes, and other entities HARTRON has developed a simplified solution for disposing of their e-waste. Recognizing the existing challenges faced by these entities, both in terms of space constraints and adherence to environmental norms, our initiative aims to provide a user-friendly and efficient mechanism with well defined SOPs for responsible e-waste disposal.
He further states that all the HODs of the Departments/ Boards/Corporation(s) and Deputy Commissioners/Commissioner Corporations/District Municipal Commissioners are being registered on the portal and they are being requested to upload their e-waste inventory.
Upon uploading the list of items of such e-waste the portal initiates a live platform for registered e-waste stakeholders associated with the Haryana State Pollution Control Board and empanelled vendors of HARTRON to start bidding, he added.
Additional MD, HARTRON Vivek Kalia informed that the portal recently e-auctioned the piled-up e-waste of Haryana State Pollution Control Board, HARTRON & a Government College Kalka. He further said that a total of 184 e-waste items comprising CPUs, Printers, UPS, LEDs etc. were auctioned. He stated that the E-waste shall be disposed off in accordance with the timelines laid down by the Government of India currently in force/from time to time and as per the e-waste rules 2022. The successful bidder will lift the material within 20 days from the date of award of contract and provide a mandatory certificate of safe disposal of the e-waste as per the rules to HARTRON within 30 days after receipt of e-waste.
