A team of the Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday arrested Sub-Inspector Karam Chand, posted at Mullana police station in Ambala district while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000. The accused had demanded the bribe in exchange for submitting a report in the complainant's favour in the High Court and getting his regular bail.
Sharing information in this regard an official spokesperson said that a case was registered against the complainant under various sections at Mullana police station. The complainant contacted the Panchkula team of the Haryana ACB and said that Sub-Inspector Karam Chand, posted at Mullana police station in Ambala, was demanding a bribe of Rs 15,000 in exchange for submitting a report in the complainant's favour in the High Court and getting his regular bail.
Based on the complaint received, the facts were investigated and the accused was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000. The matter is being investigated by collecting all necessary evidence in this case.
A case has been registered against the accused at the ACB police station in Ambala and he has been arrested. The spokesperson of the bureau appealed to the public that if any officer or employee demands bribes for doing government work, then immediately inform the Haryana ACB on toll-free numbers -1800-180-2022 and 1064.
