Heavy rain lashed parts of Punjab, including Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Mohali, on Thursday morning, causing damage and raising safety concerns in several areas.

In Ludhiana’s Rishi Nagar, a 30-feet stretch of road suddenly caved in, creating a crater nearly 20 feet deep. The collapse has posed a potential threat to nearby buildings, and authorities have begun assessing the situation.

In a separate incident in Model Town, Patiala, rainwater accumulated in the basement of an electronics showroom. The pressure reportedly caused one of the showroom’s walls to collapse. Fortunately, no one was inside the showroom at the time of the incident, and no injuries were reported.

Chandigarh Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rainfall warning for seven districts of Punjab: Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (Nawanshahr), Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala and SAS Nagar (Mohali).
