Proceedings of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly resumed at 11 AM on the 12th day of the second phase of the budget session.
During the session, the Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced that Panchayati Raj elections in the state will be conducted before May 31. Meanwhile, the Speaker rejected a proposal brought under Rule 67, triggering protests from the BJP.
Before the commencement of the Question Hour, BJP members had moved a work-stoppage motion under Rule 67, demanding a discussion on granting Deputy Commissioners the authority to fix a 5% roster for Panchayati Raj elections. However, after the proposal was rejected, BJP legislators raised slogans inside the House and staged a walkout.
Due to the disruptions, discussions under Rule 130 and the short-duration debate could not take place. The Assembly has now been adjourned till April 2.
