Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh, June 14 -
Haryana Women and Child Development Minister Aseem Goyal, emphasized the importance of child protection and the safeguarding of child rights, highlighting that children are pure at heart and embody the presence of God. He urged parents to take care of their children’s protection and rights to secure their future.
Mr. Goyal was speaking during a one-day state-level workshop on child and bonded labour, organized by the Haryana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights in Panchkula today. The event aimed to engage stakeholders in discussions and strategies to combat child and bonded labour effectively.
In his address, Mr. Goyal asserted, “No citizen has the right to snatch away the childhood of children. The Haryana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights is dedicated to protecting the rights of children and ensuring that their dreams are realized without any hindrance, allowing them to progress fully.”
He drew a parallel to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's successful Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign, which significantly improved the sex ratio in the state, underscoring the need for a similar collective effort to eradicate child labour and bonded labour. The Minister called for a special campaign against these practices and encouraged the public to pledge to adopt a daughter, thereby securing the future of girls as well. In our scriptures, the ‘kanyadaan’ of a daughter in marriage is considered greater than the donation of thousands of cows, he added.
