FAZILKA, OCTOBER 26: With government and private institutions actively engaged in finding lasting solutions for paddy straw burning, the Fazilka Administration has initiated a unique endeavour by partnering with Gaushalas for utilisation of 50,000 quintals of paddy straw as animal feed.
Disclosing this here, the Deputy Commissioner Dr Senu Duggal said that Administration will assist Gaushalas in the purchase of paddy straw which will be used for stray animals as feed. This will not only mitigate the paddy burning burden but will also help stray animals in getting care and food by Gaushalas, the DC added.
In this regard, the DC earlier this morning chaired a meeting with several Gaushala Committee office bearers, officials of Agriculture, Rural Development and Revenue Department. A detailed process to ensure the project's success has already been finalised, the DC underlined with the direction to all officers to put their all out efforts.
As many as 27 Gaushalas have been roped in as part of this prestigious project to alleviate pollution, Dr. Duggal said adding that paddy straw in proportion to Gaushala's capacity to store and number of animals will be sent. Line departments have been directed to coordinate with Gaushalas to ensure delivery of paddy straw as per project norms so that the project achieves desired results. The success of this initiative will go a long way in inspiring other such efforts to mitigate environmental pollution, the DC hoped.
