Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh, April 26 –
The Indian Patent Office has awarded registration to the design of a handicraft chair innovated by researchers at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar. This distinctive design has also earned certification from the Government of India, bearing the design number 386667-001. The design of this chair was spearheaded by research students Ayesha and Meenu Jakhar, under the expert guidance of Dr. Manju Mehta, the Director of Human Resource Management at the University.
Expressing his delight, Vice Chancellor Prof. B.R. Kamboj lauded the continuous stream of accomplishments emanating from the University, attributing them to the diligent efforts of its scientists and researchers. He extended heartfelt congratulations to the Director of Human Resource Management and the research team for the official registration of their design. Prof. Kamboj emphasized the significance of such achievements, noting that they not only propel the university's reputation forward but also provide invaluable opportunities for students to excel in the realm of handicraft design.

University made notable achievements in intellectual property rights
Prof. Kamboj said that in the last few years, CCSHAU had applied to the Indian Patent, Design, Trademark and Copyright Office to obtain intellectual property rights for 119 innovations. Out of which rights have been granted so far for 54 technologies. Achieving notable achievements in the last 3 years, the University has obtained a total of 28 intellectual property rights including 6 patents, 11 copyrights and 11 designs. On the occasion of World Intellectual Property Rights Day, he said that Intellectual Property Rights is the pillar of research quality and educational level of any institute or country. It has an important contribution in the global ranking of the university and the employability of researchers. Getting intellectual property rights for a technology also increases its commercial prospects and credibility. Therefore, efforts are underway to increase intellectual property in various countries at the global level.
Director of Human Resource Management Dr. Manju Mehta and researchers told that two panels have been made in this chair, which are on both the left and right sides. The right panel can be used to hold tools while drawing or painting and the left panel can be used to hold drawing sheets. Both the panels are foldable which follows the principle of space management and does not occupy extra space. The back support and cushioning seat protects the person from back pain and spinal cord injury. An ergonomic foot rest is provided to improve comfort when sitting for long periods of time. This work station protects users from various musculoskeletal disorders caused by improper posture.
