Indian Railways has issued updated baggage guidelines to ensure passenger convenience and safer travel across its network. The new rules specify the maximum amount of luggage that passengers can carry in different classes of coaches during their journey.
According to the guidelines, passengers found carrying baggage beyond the permitted limit may be fined under railway regulations. Those wishing to transport additional luggage are advised to book it separately in the train’s luggage van.
Under the revised limits, passengers travelling in First AC can carry up to 70 kg of luggage, while the allowance is 50 kg for Second AC passengers. Those travelling in Third AC and Sleeper Class are permitted to carry 40 kg each, whereas Second Class passengers can carry up to 35 kg of baggage.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of the Firozpur Division, Basant Kumar, said the decision has been taken keeping passenger safety and convenience in mind. He urged travelers to adhere to the prescribed baggage limits so that their journey, as well as that of fellow passengers, remains safe and comfortable.
