Rural Police have arrested Sukhjinder Singh alias Bittu, the alleged key aide of overseas-based gangster Doni Ball, along with a cache of illegal weapons. According to police, the accused was actively operating Doni Ball's criminal network and was involved in extortion activities targeting businessmen.
During the operation, police recovered a .30 bore pistol, three magazines, nine live cartridges, and a 12-bore pump-action gun from the accused's possession.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the weapons were allegedly brought to Jalandhar to target associates of jailed gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, with police suspecting they were meant for use in an impending gang war.
Police further stated that Sukhjinder Singh first came into contact with Doni Ball in Amritsar Central Jail in 2017, after which he became an active member of the gangster's network. Investigators claim he was responsible for demanding extortion money from businessmen on behalf of Doni Ball.
Officials said the timely arrest has helped avert a possible gang war and prevented other serious criminal incidents. Further investigation is underway to identify other members of the network and trace the source of the recovered weapons.
