AMRITSAR: The lawyers and other supportive personalities who prosecuted the cases of the Sikhs who were arrested during the operation blue star were detained in Jodhpur Jail were today honored by the Shiromani Gurdwara parbandhak Committee.
These honored personalities include Senior Advocate Puran Singh Hundal, Advocate Lakhveer Singh, Former Secretary of the Shiromani Committee. Satbir Singh Dhami and Dilip Singh Jagdev Kalan is involved. Apart from this, Shiromani Committee member Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka, who is currently pursuing the cases of innocent Sikh youths detained in jails, was also honored. The honored personalities were given special tastri along with Guru Bakshish Siropao, Loi, Sri Sahib and others.
On this occasion, Shiromani Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that the Sikh community has been targeted by the governments from time to time and during this time, the community can never forget the pain of bullying the Sikhs. The official attack on Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib in June 1984 is a black spot in the history of the world.
He said that during this attack, while the holy shrines were heavily damaged and Sikhs were martyred, a large number of Sikhs were also locked up in jails. At this time, 379 Sikhs had to spend an important part of their lives in Jodhpur Jail. He said that the personalities who have played an important role in supporting the Shiromani Committee for pursuing the cases of these Sikh prisoners, have great respect in the Sikh community.
Advocate Dhami said that the Sikh organization is currently working on the cases of Sikhs who are victims of government oppression and will continue to fulfill its duty in the future.
On this occasion, General Secretary of Shiromani Committee Bhai Gurcharan Singh Grewal, recalling the time spent in Jodhpur Jail, severely criticized the coercion of the governments. He said that the personalities who were honored today cooperated with the Shiromani Committee by making sincere efforts, due to which their release was possible. Meanwhile, Senior Advocate Puran Singh Hundal disclosed the difficulties encountered while pursuing the cases of Jodhpur prisoners and thanked the SGPC for their efforts to honor them. Advocate Hundal also requested the Shiromani Committee President to preserve the research work related to the Jodhpur case and the memories of the concerned in book form, to which Advocate Dhami gave a positive response.
