A police employee was injured after a licensed pistol accidentally discharged during an inspection at the Amritsar Police Office complex on Monday. The incident took place in the Arms Branch, triggering panic among staff and visitors present at the premises.

According to officials, the accident occurred in the Arms Branch located within the office complex of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Alam Vijay. A person had arrived at the branch to complete formalities and verification related to his licensed firearm.

As per standard procedure, officials were inspecting the weapon when a .32-bore pistol suddenly went off. The bullet struck an employee identified as Narayan Das, leaving him injured.

Following the incident, chaos briefly erupted in the office complex. Colleagues immediately shifted the injured employee to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. His condition has not been officially disclosed.

Police authorities are examining the circumstances that led to the accidental firing and are expected to conduct a detailed inquiry into the incident.
