Star Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain clinched the first Asian Games gold medal of her career after defeating China’s Bao Jieyi 5-0 in the women’s 75kg final.
India also secured its first-ever Asian Games gold in the women’s recurve archery team event. The trio of Ankita Bhakat, Keerthi and Kumkum defeated 10-time Olympic champions South Korea 5-3 to create history.
On Day 13 of the Asian Games being held in Nagoya, Japan, India’s medal tally reached 70, including 12 gold medals, taking the country to sixth place in the overall standings.
In sailing, Nethra Kumanan won the bronze medal in the women’s dinghy final after finishing third in the event.
