The United States military carried out airstrikes on Iran late Tuesday night, according to the US Central Command (CENTCOM). The operation was described as a response to the reported downing of an American Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz.
Earlier, former US President Donald Trump claimed that an AH-64 Apache helicopter on patrol had been shot down by Iran, although he added that both pilots survived the incident. Trump also stated that “America must respond to this attack.”
In a parallel development, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it had launched a retaliatory drone strike targeting a US military base in Bahrain and the headquarters of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that Iranian forces would respond to any further attacks. He also issued a strong message to the United States, saying, “If you want to stay safe, leave our region.”
The situation has sharply escalated tensions in the Gulf region, with both sides exchanging serious allegations and military threats.
