Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday(28th March) inaugurated Phase 1 of the Noida International Airport in Jewar, a major infrastructure project built at a cost of around ₹11,200 crore.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister congratulated the people of Western Uttar Pradesh and described the occasion as a symbol of a “new India.” He highlighted the ongoing global tensions, particularly the conflict in West Asia, stating that it has led to concerns worldwide over essential commodities such as food, petrol, diesel, and gas.

Modi said that while many countries are struggling with shortages, India is dealing with the situation through the collective strength of its citizens. He assured that the government is working to ensure that the burden of rising costs does not fall on common people and farmers. He also emphasized that development activities have not slowed down despite global uncertainties, pointing out that several major projects have recently been secured in Uttar Pradesh.

The Prime Minister noted that Uttar Pradesh is now among the states with the highest number of international airports. Calling the day personally significant, he said he had the opportunity both to lay the foundation stone and inaugurate the airport, adding that the project is closely tied to the identity of the state that elected him as its Member of Parliament.

Speaking at the event, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath thanked the Prime Minister and said the Jewar Airport would accelerate the state’s development, describing it as a step toward building a “New India.”
