The Punjab government has changed the timings of government schools and offices in view of the intense summer heat across the state. The new schedule will come into effect from May 25.

Under the revised timings, government schools and offices will function from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said the decision was taken to protect students and employees from the severe heatwave conditions.

Meanwhile, the weather changed suddenly on Friday morning in several parts of Punjab. Rainfall was reported from cities including Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Pathankot, leading to a noticeable drop in temperature.

In Jalandhar and Pathankot, strong winds accompanied the rain, bringing temporary relief from the scorching heat. Weather officials expect similar conditions to continue in some areas over the next few hours.
