Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal has kept the possibility of an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) open, saying that the political picture will become clear in the coming days.

Reacting to speculation over a possible BJP-SAD alliance, Badal said, “I am not an astrologer,” adding that everyone would have to wait for the coming days to see how things unfold.

He made it clear that the Shiromani Akali Dal was open to forming alliances with all like-minded political parties in Punjab, except the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which he described as the state's two main rival parties.

Meanwhile, the Akali Dal has received a significant political boost ahead of the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections, with the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Kadian) officially announcing its support for the party.

Farmer leader Harmeet Singh Kadian said the political wing of the union had held discussions with leaders of several political parties on farmers' issues. However, none of the parties had given any concrete assurance regarding the resolution of farmers' problems.

He said Sukhbir Singh Badal had assured the union that if the SAD comes to power in Punjab, farmers' issues would be addressed on a priority basis.

Following this assurance, the union decided to extend its support to the Shiromani Akali Dal in the upcoming elections, marking a significant development in Punjab's pre-election political scenario.
